on the road...part 1

The Krugs are on the road! Day #1 found us in Chicago at the Field Museum, a stop we'd been looking forward to since Nathanael finished his reading chart back in February!

First stop: Sue the T-Rex!

The kids really enjoyed the Crown Family Play Area. Here Eva pretends to be a turtle.
Eva and Alyssa are playing a table drum together.

Nathanael is transported to ancient Egypt and waits for his mummification!
The day ended with a trip to Aurora and supper at the Hauser house with Anne, Jonathan, and little Rachel.
Finally, we drove another hour and a half and spent the night in Wenona, IL at the Super 8. Quote of the night (AJK, of course): Mom, this is soooo exciting! This hotel is so fancy...the way they've made the beds, the lamps. Oh, Mom, I just LOVE this fancy hotel! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

kids

Eva gave me a zerbert this week.

Nathanael is building race track after race track with his blocks.

Alyssa's quote of the week: Mother, I can't wait to be a grown-up. You get to do whatever you want because you don't have mom and dad telling you what to do. *pause* Except for all those laws.
